2013: My husband, Rolf, and I have been married 45 years. We have lived in the same house in Germantown now for over 35 years. We never had children but enjoy our nieces and nephews. We are still working and own the Germantown Barber Shop in Germantown, TN. This business has been good to us. We have so many great customers. It has been an interesting experience. I never thought I would have done this in my life but it seems as if fate turned my career path along the way. I also work at Delta Airlines. I have been in this profession off and on for 40 years. This has been an exciting venture but I’ve seen many changes during these years. I don’t know when I will retire but someday soon I should be thinking about this. I’m starting to realize there is more to life than working all the time. Rolf and I will probably do more traveling in the coming years – we always enjoyed that.
Well, here’s hoping we all stay happy, healthy and in good shape for the future. God Bless everyone. Hope to see you at the reunion.

2003: Well, here goes my life. I was married 33 years to Jerry Montgomery. We divorced four years ago, and I have not remarried. I have one daughter, Melinda, who is married to Ed Whittinghill. They have four children—Emily, Kelsey, Michael and Ashley, all of which are my joy. I have one brother, Jeff Allen. My mom and dad, John and Floy Allen, are still living at ages 83 (mother) and 86 (dad). I worked at Campbell Clinic for about 25 years as a secretary and typist. I had a stroke in 1998 and had to quit that job. I started working at Graham Heights Baptist Church in 1999 as church secretary and that is where I work now. My hobbies have to do with church and the Lord. I sing in the choir, which I love to do. My God and my church mean everything to me. God has been my lighthouse and has brought me through life.

2013: Graduated from Memphis State University in 1968, married Jimmy Bullington and had two kids, David and Darla. Jimmy died in 1980. In 1968, I also went to work for First National Bank, now First Tennessee. In 1987, I married Tommy Cordell, who installed kitchens for Sears. After his health began to fail, he opened a business called C&C Auto Upholstery. He died in 2001. I retired from First Tennessee in 2003 as a Vice President after 35 years. Then I went to The Bank of Bartlett for 5 years so I would be old enough to retire at 62. While working there, I met Richard Agent and we got married right after I retired in 2008. Richard was retired after 42 years from H. B. Fuller Co. We have had a wonderful time together traveling and doing the things we love. We’ve been to Europe twice, Australia and New Zealand, and Canada three times. We hope to go on a cross country road trip this year.
Life has had its ups and downs, but God has got me through all of it. Between Richard and me, we have 1 son and 3 daughters, 5 grandsons and 4 granddaughters and 1 great grandson. We feel very blessed to have such a great family and good health. Oh, we ache some, but other than normal old age pain, we are in good health, thanks to the Lord.

2008: It is very difficult to believe that it has been 45 years since we graduated. We are not that old. I am excited about attending the reunion. This is the first one I have been able to attend.
After graduating from Union University, I moved to Bolivar, TN where my parents were. I married Ray Campbell, an engineer with Tenneco and lived there for 30 years. I taught elementary school a couple of years before I had children and then I stayed home for 14 years. I was active in the church, serving as organist at the Methodist church in Bolivar. When my husband retired I returned to teaching. Ray died in 1998. My 2 children are now grown and married. I have one five year-old granddaughter. My Dad died in 1993 and my Mother just celebrated her 90th birthday.
In 1999, I met a man who was in Bolivar for a short time, but had spent the last 20 years in Africa. We married in May of 1999 and I moved to Africa in June. I lived in Cameroon, West Africa, for 5 years. We had airplanes there and my husband was a crop duster and sprayed bananas for Del Monte. I became involved with Likomba Baptist Church in Tiko and we started a building program. I have been back in the states for 4 years now. Each year, I have returned to Cameroon with a Mission Team made up from different churches, all denominations, around the South. The church now has a roof, a concrete floor and 800 in attendance. They have also started 3 village mission churches. It has certainly been a fulfilling experience.
I now live in Nashville. I am the office manager at Soltus, my son’s company, a software design company, and I have a helicopter company in Nashville, so between the helicopters and programmers, I stay busy. I enjoy gardening, stained glass and traveling. Looking forward to June.

2013: History since high school: Most of you will not remember this, but I quit high school five weeks before graduation. My quitting was prompted by many things, but primarily due to ignorance on my part. I later finished high school in the U.S. Army and went to college at the University Of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska. While in Nebraska, Charlotte finished her nurse’s training, and I was introduced to the real estate profession. I have been in real estate now for over 43 years. Most of my business has been in Memphis where I maintained a real estate brokerage business and was involved in construction and insurance. My career now is limited to primarily rental investments. Charlotte retired from nursing about 25 years ago. It does not look like I will ever be able to retire from the real estate business!
Charlotte and I have two children, Lowell and Tiffany. Lowell resides in Lakeland, TN with his wife and two children, and Tiffany resides in Frankfort, Kentucky with her partner. Charlotte and I are enjoying our later years residing in Florida. We have lived here now for about 22 years on beautiful Lake Eustis in central Florida. We seem to fit in real well with all the elderly people here in Florida. Both of us have reasonably good health, however, I have issues in recent years with my heart, knee replacement, and now prostate cancer. We solicit your prayers and support as we battle (with God’s direction) these present health issues.
We are looking forward to seeing each of you in May. It has been great, but what seems to have been a very short 50 years!!!!

2013: Following graduation from Kingsbury in 1963, I enrolled at Memphis State planning on majoring in English and becoming a teacher like Mrs. Long. Unfortunately, I majored in sororities and fraternities instead and ended my first semester with a 1.7 GPA. I knew I was smarter than that and decided what I needed was discipline, so I joined the US Marine Corps. And MAN did they give me discipline. In fact, it’s safe to say that during the next six years the Corps instilled in me everything I needed to succeed in life. I returned to Memphis and was fortunate to join E H Crump and Company in their aviation insurance department. I basically remained with them for the next 20+ years rising to Vice President before retiring at age 44. I still felt what my mom called a “hole in my soul” about not succeeding in college and decided to return. My original plan was simply to get a bachelor’s degree in business and return to the business world probably in another industry. But, little did I know how much I would come to love learning, and after four years at Memphis State I had earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics and was coerced by my mentors to pursue a PhD at Cornell University. I completed my PhD in health economics in four years and was immediately hired by Cornell in their Master of Health Administration (MHA) program. After my first year there, I was recruited by the, then, University of Memphis for their MHA program and jumped at the chance to return to my hometown in 1999. I’ve been teaching at Memphis ever since and have no immediate plans to retire. I found my two true loves here….first teaching and mentoring bright young people and watching their careers skyrocket, and second, Bernice, my bride who has been my staunchest advocate and best friend for the past 13 years. Bernice retired after 30 years as the Chief Information Officer with the Veteran’s Administration and we now reside in her childhood hometown, Benton, AR, with our two four-legged kids, Prissy and Dutch.

2013: 50 years! My how time slips away…….and this is supposed to be a story told in a short paragraph. After graduating from Kingsbury, I enrolled at the William R. Moore School of Technology where I studied architectural drafting. During this two-year period I also began dating and fell in love with Kay Brogden. After graduation from Wm. R. Moore, I began working at Humble Oil Company (now Exxon). I also enrolled in Memphis State University, taking classes at night and on Saturdays. Kay and I had planned to marry in June, 1967, but my draft status changed to 1A and we married in November, 1966. I was drafted into the US Army in January, 1967, trained at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Belvoir, Virginia and was stationed for 6 months at Fort Riley, Kansas. I was sent to Vietnam in January, 1968 and returned to the United States in January,1969. After returning from overseas, Kay and I had our first child, Thomas, in 1970. Our daughter, Amy, was born in 1975. We remained in Memphis until 1978, when we moved to Waverly, a small middle-Tennessee town near Kentucky Lake. Work opportunities led us to move to Huntsville, Alabama in 1982. Both kids grew up in Huntsville and graduated from Auburn University. I have worked in various capacities, from draftsman to Senior Engineer, all of which revolved around construction. Over the past 30 years, much of my work has involved design, management and construction of explosive operating facilities. Kay and I developed and operated a small, part-time business for eight years, which we sold two years ago. Since official retirement in May, 2010, I have operated a consulting business on a part-time (very part-time) basis doing facilities and explosive safety work for customers at Redstone Arsenal. Thomas and his wife, Parker, have our only grandson, a feisty 7 year-old named Cruce. Our daughter, Amy, and her husband, Ed, reside near Huntsville, so all of our children are close by. Kay and I have been blessed with good health and good friends. Who could ask for more?

2013: Attended Memphis State and graduated with a degree in math in January, 1968. As it was pretty certain that I was going to be drafted, I decided to enlist in the U. S. Army. I entered the army in the summer of 1968 and discovered during the rigors of basic training that I had an inherited neuromuscular disorder called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. This led to a medical discharge after 84 days.
Returning to civilian life, I taught math at two Memphis schools. After earning a MEd degree in Guidance Counseling from MSU, I then did guidance counselor work for State Technical Institute Memphis, the Navy Department at Millington Naval Air Station and for the Army Department in Germany. At age 36, I decided to return to school and pursue a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at UT Knoxville. Upon that completion of that degree, I was fortunate to land a job with the U. S. Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. I worked for the Energy Department in Oak Ridge 17 years and my final year in Albuquerque, NM.
At this time (Nov., 2001) I retired from the Energy Department and joined my friend, Lynne Bownds, whom I had been dating for three years, in Spokane, WA. I met Lynne in Knoxville, TN and she had become a professor in Economics at Eastern Washington University near Spokane. Lynne passed away from breast cancer in January, 2010, and with no other strong ties to Spokane, I decided to return to the South. As of September, 2012, I am living in Northwest Arkansas.

2003: My life has taken me from Tennessee to Florida and back to Tennessee. I graduated from Memphis State in May of 1968, and one week later got married and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. My husband, Chip, and I were working and buying a house in Boca Raton, Florida where our daughter, Angie, was born. We lived there until she was 2 years old, and then we moved to Jupiter, Florida where we lived for 4 years. Our son, Stewart, was born in Jupiter, and then we moved outside of town to the Burt Reynolds Ranch area where we lived for the next 28 years.
Angie and Stewart graduated from the same high school that their dad attended. Angie went on to Auburn University and graduated in 1992 with a degree in mechanical engineering. She works for Georgia Pacific in Cleveland, Tennessee. She is still single but has bought a lovely home there in Cleveland and is having fun decorating it.
Stewart graduated from Florida State in 1997. He came to Tennessee and worked at Sun Trust in the securities department, but he is my Florida boy and wanted to go back to Florida, so he got a job with Charles Schwab as an investment advisor and is living in Orlando. He is still single too, runs 5 miles everyday, and still plays golf as often as he can.
Eight years ago I transferred with Arthur Andersen to the Nashville office. We bought a house about 21 miles from Nashville, and my mother came to live with us. She died almost 4 years ago, and I am thankful I got to move back home and spend time with her. When Arthur Andersen was disbanded, I stayed home for a year, but I got bored and went back to work this past January at another accounting firm here in Nashville. My husband works for Sprint, so until he retires, we will be here. Hopefully, then we will be able to spend time between Tennessee and Florida with our children.

2013: I wish I could begin my update with, “Nothing much has changed,” but sadly I cannot. I lost my husband, Tommy, suddenly and unexpectedly, two and a half years ago. It is a very difficult adjustment but, somehow, with God’s help, we survive. I am so grateful for family and friends and all the wonderful KHS friends who have been there for me.
All three children live very close and they and the grandchildren keep me very busy. Can’t believe I’m dealing with teenagers again! Still have my dad. He is in great health and quite active at 92! Looking so forward to seeing you all.

2013: Since graduation, my life has been amazing, full of adventures and ordinary events - happy and sad. I have been married for 49 years to Dearing Garner of Richmond, VA. I have lived in five states, eight different cities and traveled to many countries on several continents and islands. Each place has been unique and has helped to make me the wife, mother and Christian I am today.
I have worked in several positions throughout the years, but my real life’s work has been to be a supportive and involved minister’s wife and to be a caring mother. What could be more important than that? Our children are Andrew (44), Karen and Carson who live in Nazareth, PA; Laura (40), Paul, Ethan and Graham who live in Dallas, TX; and Nathan (30) and Jennifer who live in Cumming, GA. Nathan and Jennifer are expecting their first child in October, 2013. Dearing and I have lived in Kingwood, TX for the past 35 years.
In 2005, Dearing retired from the pastorate after 39 years. In 2006, he became the Executive Director of Children’s Emergency Relief International (CER), a work with at risk children that has taken him (and sometimes me) to Mexico, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. In April 2013, Dearing is “retiring” again to work only in Romania with the Romo people group and in South Africa Villages building sustainable gardens and giving medical aid. Through this work his priority is to share the good news of God’s love.
With all this extra time on our hands, we have acquired 3 ½ acres on the side of a mountain in the southwest part of Virginia and we plan to build a house for a retreat for our family. Hopefully by year’s end, we will be sitting on the porch looking at the mountains. We love the Appalachian region and its people.
I am blessed. First, I have a husband who is kind and gentle and has led our family in a godly manner, and second, I know my children desire God’s direction for their lives. My strength comes from Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you (me) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

2013: I lived most of the past fifty years in a suburb of Nashville (Mt. Juliet, TN) and basically raised my children as a single parent.
I worked as an executive secretary for over 30 years in insurance and law but also did session work in Nashville studios and recorded much of my own music. I spent a year in Hawaii (’85-’86) where I studied Biblical Counseling at the University of the Nations (Y-WAM) and relocated a few years later, after the death of my mother (1998) to Branson, MO (1999) working in the tourist industry and for a ministry for women and children who were in crisis. I relocated to North Carolina in 2006 where I entertained at a gated community country club and recently returned to Branson for retirement (2011). I, however, continue to perform musically and also work as a concierge for a lakeside resort (2012).
My life has consisted of reinventing myself continually. Not being born with a silver spoon in my mouth, and having grassroots parents have given me a flexible backbone. Like many of my classmates, I have survived much. That is just what you call “life.” The Christian principles I was taught through my mother’s example and the tenacity to use God-given talents have kept me afloat through the bitter and the sweet of my life. God just wouldn’t allow me to give up. Mother told me he had a ‘purpose for me’ being born late in my parent’s lives. I am proud of the school and teachers who did their best to educate my hard head and I have learned there are no friends like old friends. I love you all. Looking forward to the reunion. Fifty years have gone by all too quickly.

2013: James “Bull” Durham is enjoying life at its fullness. Not a lot has changed since our 45th reunion. I am so blessed. My bride, Sally Wylie Durham of 41 years (42 when we gather at Graceland on May 4 of this year), now has both of our daughters living on both sides of our homestead. With four wonderful grandchildren, we never have a dull moment at our house. It’s all about family and we both are enjoying this ride that our wonderful Lord has provided for our family.
I have retired from two successful careers in insurance and real estate but I’m too young to stop serving. I now serve our beautiful city of Bentonville, Arkansas (home of Wal-Mart) as a part-time greeter at our Bentonville Parks and Recreation Downtown Activity Center. Still very active, serving our community as Chairman of our Benton County Equalization Board, Lion’s Club member since 1975, past chairman of the Bentonville/Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. I am currently director and past chairman of our Bentonville/Bella Vista FCA Adult Chapter, and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes since 1990. I am still involved at our local schools. Since 1979, I have been the voice of our junior high football, basketball, and baseball programs as the public address announcer. I still keep the clock for our Bentonville High School football team serving the last 28 seasons.
Sally and I are active at church serving on our Connections Team. Sally serves with our bulletins and I am in charge of our greeters and serve as an usher two weeks each month. Hospitality is one of my spiritual gifts that our awesome God has given me and I abide in his love with this gift.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our 50th reunion!

2013: Since the last reunion I attended (40th), I have had many changes in my life. In 2006, I remarried and sadly after only nine months, my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away four months later. That same year, I welcomed my first great granddaughter (Lydia). In 2010, I retired from an accounting firm where I had worked the past ten years and welcomed a second great granddaughter (Adalyne) and a granddaughter (Victoria) a month apart. This year right after the reunion, I will be having another grandson and a third great grandchild that we don’t know what it is yet. I have two older granddaughters (Bailey and Morgan) and a grandson (Jacob). I keep the youngest granddaughter two days a week and try to travel some when I can work it out. I can’t believe it has been 50 years since graduation and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion in May.

2013: I have no idea how the last fifty years went by so fast but for the most part, it has been a good run. I received my BA degree from “Memphis State University”, went to work at Southland Life Insurance, retired in 1990, went to work for UT Medical Group in 1991 and retired in 2000. Went back to work at UT Medical Group in 2001 and retired again (and the final time) in 2009. I enjoyed working but find retirement is much better.
I married James Graves (Treadwell, Class of 63) and we had one son, Jimmy. James retired from Lucent Technologies in 2000 and started his own consulting business. He works from home and plays golf every chance he gets. Our son works for AT & T and his wife, Jennifer, is the guidance counselor at Briarcrest High School. We have two grandchildren, Joshua is 20 and a sophomore at Union University and Elizabeth (age 17) is a junior at Briarcrest. We moved to Nesbit, MS in 2000 and found that peace and quiet is a good thing at our age. I feel blessed every day for finding my soul mate (47 years together) and having a wonderful son, incredible daughter-in-law and two perfect grandchildren (aren’t all grandchildren perfect?)

2013: How could we have been out of school 50 years when it seems we ought to only be 40 years old? When I reflect on all the wonderful blessings I have received since graduation, I realize it has to have been that long.
The first blessing came in 1968 when I married Betty Jane (BJ) Vauhan. Then in 1972 we were blessed with a wonderful son, BRIAN Allen, followed by a beautiful daughter, KRISTEN Jane, in 1975. Brian graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC with a degree in music. He was enrolled to attend Manhattan School of Music Graduate School. He decided he could always sing on the side but was not sure what kind of income he could generate as a musician. Instead he earned his doctor of medicine from UT Memphis and did his residence in radiology and his fellowship in pediatric radiology at the University of Missouri Medical School in Columbia, MO. He worked for the University of Missouri Hospital and taught at the med school for 3 years before returning to Memphis 3 years ago. He is now a partner in the Memphis Radiology Group. They are the Methodist Hospital radiologists. During this time he has used his musical talent as a church soloist as well as interim music director. His greatest accomplishments; however, are the five blessings he and his wife, Lori McAllen Green, have provided us: Alex, Christian, Lauren, Zachary and Gracie.
After graduating from University of Tennessee Knoxville, Kristen worked for State Farm insurance as a claims adjustor. She married her high school and college “good friend”, Byron Fisher. They produced our next 3 blessings, Byron III (Trip), Thomas and the caboose of our grandkids, Emma.
My partner and I own Harwell/Green Insurance Services, an independent insurance agency and a member of Memphis Insurance Group. I enjoy hunting and spending time with my family. We are so blessed to have both of our children and all of our grandchildren in the Memphis area. Seems there is always a football game, basketball game, wrestling match, play, band or choral concert, a hunting trip or fishing expedition. God has truly blessed me!!!
God also blessed me by allowing me to go through Kingsbury with a very special group of classmates. Many of our former teachers and coaches have confirmed that there was something special about the “Class of ‘63”. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on old times.

2013: It’s been 50 years since we graduated from high school. The Good Lord has continued to bless me through the years. He has indeed lifted me up during the trying times in my life, but thanks to Him, those times have been short lived. The good times have far outnumbered the trying times.
Jan and I have had 15 wonderful years together. She definitely has been one of the blessings that I hold most dear. The other blessings I count are our children and grandchildren. My son and his wife still live in Germantown with their two children (Caroline, age 10; and Thomas, age 6). One of my stepdaughters and her husband now live in Arlington, TN. Their two boys are Austin, age 13 and Hunter, age 11. My youngest daughter and her husband live in Jackson, TN. They have a one year old boy named Toby. The second stepdaughter also lives in Jackson, TN. They have a daughter, Rachel, age 4, and a son, Colin, age 9 months. This adds up to 7 grandchildren. I also have a daughter in Nashville, and another in East Tennessee about 25 miles north of Knoxville. As you can see, God has richly blessed me!
Since our last reunion, Jan and I have continued to travel as much as possible. Besides the Colorado Rockies, Alaska, and Mexico, we’ve been out West all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The sights and sounds of the Grand Canyon, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, and Fisherman’s Warf in Monterey, CA have been fantastic. We’ve also been fortunate to cruise to Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel.
During these past 50 years, I have also worked at Treadwell High School as teacher, coach, and Athletic Director. Then I served as Asst. Principal back at Kingsbury for six years; I then worked at Richland Elementary for eight years. I then served as Principal at Fayette Academy Elementary School for three years. When I retired from education after 34 years, I worked as Campus Manager at Bellevue Baptist Church for six years. Now I am working with Shepherd’s Haven 3 days a week. They are a group of Special Needs Adults that come to Bellevue 5 days a week. It is tremendous to work and counsel with these guys and gals. They are tremendous! I try to ask the Lord to use me each day as He sees fit! Many days, when I leave Bellevue, I look up at the sky in amazement at how He used me! I realize He must really have a sense of humor! I also realize He must really care for these guys and gals, but He also cares for little ole ME!

Our other shared interests include eating out, “junk store shopping”, and spoiling our grandkids.
I still enjoy golf, woodworking, and fishing. We have a cabin at Kentucky Lake, just outside of Camden, TN, where I love spending time just goofing off. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Big Five-0.

2013: It is really hard to believe that 50 years have gone by so quickly. Next year, along with the 50th high school reunion, my husband, Dennis, and I will be celebrating 50 wonderful years together. During this time, we have been busy raising three children, enjoying six grandchildren, and just trying to make the most of each day. Dennis has been in the adhesive business since getting out of the Army in 1966. He worked his way up from being employed at a glue manufacturing plant to owning his own business, Progressive Adhesives. Our son, our daughter, and our son-in-law work with him at the glue plant, and he still enjoys going to work every day. I have been at home for the last 12 years just doing my own thing. I like doing volunteer work, going to Bible Study, spending time with the grandkids, etc., etc. I stay busy.
Our oldest daughter, Kathy, is married to Shawn Maxwell who works with Dennis. They live in Nashville now, but Shawn commutes to work. They have three children, Whitney, 25, Shelby 22, and Zach 19. Whitney has her Masters Degree in anthropology. Shelby has graduated from UT Knoxville, and will be there four more years when she will become a doctor of Audiology, and Zach is studying at Kent State in Ohio.
Our son, Keith, works with Dennis. He is married to Kelly who is a fourth grade teacher at Lausanne. They have two children, Keifer, 18, and Kenna, 7. Keifer is in his first year at DePaul University in Chicago. Kenna is in the second grade at Lausanne. They live close by in Collierville so we get to spend a lot of time with Kenna.
Our youngest daughter, Kelly, works at the glue plant. She has a step-daughter, Callie, who is 13 and goes to school in Brownsville, TN. Kelly was recently remarried to Jason Roy who owns a couple of Sheridan’s Custard stores so we get to eat a lot of that yummy ice cream! They plan to start a family soon.
Dennis and I have been truly blessed. We have enjoyed a great deal of travel over the past 25 years, and look forward to many more trips. We have visited every continent except Antarctica, and hope to go there next year.

2013: Wow, what to say about 50 years. It is so hard to believe it has been that long. It seems like forever and no time at all. John and I have been married 47 years now and have owned the bookstore from the onset. We have worked together, played together and cried together during those years. We go as often as possible to our Sandestin home and enjoy that a lot. Our girls are all grown and married and we were blessed with five grandsons. They are almost grown themselves now. Andrew is 20, Alex is 18, Christopher is 17, Zachary is 15, and the youngest, Jack, is 11.
We still own two college bookstores, Tiger Book Store in Memphis and Blue Raider Bookstore in Murfreesboro. The business has changed a lot over the years and we are so fortunate to have our daughter, Kristy, running the stores now. John and I stay up late and sleep late. We play golf for fun and try not to take it too seriously. We exercise daily to keep everything moving and “flexible”—well at least moving. I enjoy reading and still work some from home for the stores and handle our rental property. I really love the monthly lunches or dinners with the Kingsbury girls. We have a great group and just enjoy getting together. We have been so blessed through the years.

2013: Nathan and I will be married forty eight years this November 6, 2013. We have raised two amazing young men. Nathan and I are best friends and truly soul mates. We have been on a journey of tears, sickness but most of all love on top of love!! Always understanding, and always by each other’s side. My Nathan is amazing, the most loving (to be a Marine, (ha), compassionate person I know. Nate loves his family beyond belief. Together we have tackled the horrible word “cancer” three times: myself, Nathan, and most recent our oldest son. By God’s grace and mercies and His healing hand, we are all three miracles. Our marriage would be nothing without God!! God has always and will be always the head of our household. We serve an amazing God, and daily we stand on his promises and believe them to come forth. The very best thing God ever did or has done for me, besides my beautiful young men, is giving me Nathan all those years back at Kingsbury High School, where it all began. In case you can’t tell, I love God, my wonderful husband and my boys with all my heart, mind and soul…We are so glad to be here at our 50th high school reunion and be with such caring and loving friends. Nate and I want to thank Allen Green for being our prayer warrior for the last four years…Allen you are truly a blessed friend. Guys this is amazing that we have been this close for these years. Nate and I have looked forward to this and hope to be at the next one. Love, Nathan and Barbara (Housdan) Bishop

2008: It seems so unreal that it has been 45 years since we all started on our road of life and I look forward to seeing everyone since I have not seen anyone since the 25th Reunion.
A lot has happened to us all since then – right after that gathering I discovered I had breast cancer and after several years of up and downs, I have now been cancer free for about 16 years. I was a volunteer for the Reach To Recovery program for the American Cancer Society until a few years ago, which was a very rewarding experience for me as well as those I visited.
Ed and I married 20 years ago in September and we are going to renew our vows this year. He is the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. He and I both work in the Interior Design field so we have a lot in common and work together well. He is a gourmet cook and has taught me to enjoy food so indeed I have changed sizes through the years.
I have not been blessed with children but I have handled this loss by being the best aunt, niece, and stepmother that I can be. My husband has two grown children who both live in Millington. We have two grandchildren; Tracie going to Nursing School and Blake who just graduated last year and is now finding the road he wants to take. Both are wonderful young people.
My sister and two aunts still live in my neighborhood – I actually live in the house where we lived when we were going to Kingsbury – so it is indeed home to us. My brother and his family live but a short distance away so our family times together are blessed and loved.
Looking forward to seeing everyone, Linda King Spears

My youngest son, John films events, etc. Both of my stepsons, Kirk and Johnny, are with the Memphis Fire Department and have families. Dale Lock and I were married 29 years when he passed away.
One of the highlights of my working career was being a secretary with the U. S. Postal Service 28 years when my job was abolished. Fortunately they offered early outs to us.

2013: Along with the rest of you, I have a hard time believing that FIFTY years have passed since we graduated KHS together! I have not seen many of you since the day of graduation! Sadly, we have also lost many of our classmates to death.
Needless to say, there have been some changes in each of us – some for the better…some not so good! Let’s just say: I no longer weigh 107 pounds as I did in May, 1963, and I will probably continue highlighting my hair until I’m 70 or so! Well, okay, 75. The good news is that I still feel young at heart. I’m blessed with three amazing, successful children who have given me such great joy with eight (will be nine in August) beautiful, wonderful grandchildren!
I wrote a “blog” about growing up in the South and published it last Christmas for my family. If you read that (starting at the beginning in the blog archives and reading forward) you’ll probably know more than you’d want to. It is http://mysouthernheart.blogspot.com/ After living in the Pacific Northwest for five and a half years, I am now divorced and living in the Midwest about 14 minutes from my daughter and her family. I started my blog www.sweetjourneyhome.com after moving here to the Des Moines area.
Since this may not be where or what I thought my life would be right now, each day I remember Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
May the good Lord bless and keep each one of you.

2003: After that very exciting day when we all graduated from Kingsbury, I enrolled in college and continued and continued and continued until finally earning a Ph.D. I began my career teaching in college. Even though I now work for the government, I still teach (would you believe Government Regulations i.e. OSHA.) In 1999, I was voted by my students “Outstanding Teacher of the Year.” I was excited about that since government regulations is one of the more “interesting” academic subject matter taught in college! With the government, I write safety and training manuals. Also, I do a large amount of consulting with private businesses and as well as auditing companies for OSHA violations.
I am still married to my 1st wife. We have one offspring, and unlike most of you I am not old enough to have any grandchildren yet.
After about 45 years, I retired from being a church organist that probably made a lot of people happy. We enjoy traveling, and I remain a committed and avid reader. It is my prayer that each of you has found true happiness.

2008: This is my first update, but I will make it brief. In 1963 Bernie Speer (class of '62) and I were married. He had joined the Air Force, so we moved around a lot and we lost contact with almost everyone, but finally landed in Tampa, Florida, where we lived for almost 18 years. Moved back here in 1983. Bernie passed away in 2000; we had been married 36-1/2 yrs. We have always loved dogs - our 1st in Fla. was an Irish Setter, next an English Springer who moved back to Memphis with us. And finally, a beautiful Golden Retriever named Taylor. Taylor left me in Aug. of last year and I rescued another beautiful Golden from the Memphis Golden Retriever Rescue. Her name is Lindsay Grace; she is now a year old. I work for Marx & Bensdorf Real Estate here in Memphis as the manager - truly love my job. Have been in real estate since 1979 in some capacity, including agent. I sincerely hope everyone has found happiness in their lives - we had such a great class. 2008: Lynn and I have been happily married for 43 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Whitehaven High and we were introduced by Barbara Massengill Traylor and her husband, Jimmy. Jimmy and Lynn knew each other at Whitehaven. Lynn retired from the Hormel Corp after 36 years and we are enjoying traveling and spending time with our two grandchildren, Catelyn 4 1/2 and Cole 17 mos. We have one son, Gary, who has been the joy of our life. He and his wife, Ashlyn, and the children live here in Houston, so we get to see them every week and baby-sit when needed. I am still working with my decorating business but work only on referrals now and can take off when Lynn says "let's go." Go has always been my middle name! God has blessed our life and I am thankful for his guidance.

2008: On the outside I am old, short and fat. On the inside I feel timeless and as vast as the Grand Canyon – filled with God’s peace and His vastness is very present.
I am single longer than I was married (20 years). I have three adult children. My two married daughters have a total of four boys and one girl (ready to be born in a couple of weeks). My son is single. I work full time and hopefully can for ten more years.
I have been blessed to be reacquainted with the gang of KHS girls for over a year now.
My joy or brain candy is my work with the Chancel Choir at my church. The classical music has made me work very hard. I hope it helps to keep my brain young!—ok, younger.
Please make an effort to come to our reunion. Let us share our lives again! By now we know who we are. I will be so happy to see you June 6 and 7.
2013: I am enjoying our KHS girls’ annual trips to Pickwick Dam. We have become close during our monthly luncheons.

2013: So many memories came to mind when I started thinking about my high school days. In a way, it seems like yesterday but when I reflect on the many different events that brought me to where I am today, time didn’t move that fast. Kingsbury High School was such a good part of my memories. I am so grateful for the friends I made and the teachers who influenced my life in such a good way. Thank you KHS!
I have been blessed with a good husband and three terrific sons. Bill is still working (to support me!) and has no plans for immediate retirement. Our sons, Brad and Kevin, work with him at Argo & Associates. Our youngest son, Tim works for MAA (Mid American Apartment Communities). My sons have given me three beautiful daughters-in-law and two fabulous grandchildren: Luke, age 9, and Callie, age 6. The big event in our life since the 45th reunion has been the marriage of our now 42 year old son, Brad, to LeAnn Harris in 2012. I have three of the best daughters-in-law!
I spend my time helping care for Luke and Callie a couple of days a week. They keep us busy with sporting events which we try to attend all. They are the joy of my life! I enjoy walking, Pilates, and yoga. I’m really not good at yoga but it does seem to help all the aches and pains this 67 year old has and makes me feel stronger. I, along with friends and neighbors, participate in Race for the Cure every year. I thoroughly enjoy meeting with the Kingsbury girls every month. I think we would all agree that the last 8 or 9 years, our friendships have grown and we appreciate each other much more. Getting older does have some advantages! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our 50th Reunion.

2008: I married William Turner, a 1962 graduate of Ripley High School, and he is still the love of my life. We have been married for 45 years and were blessed to have three beautiful daughters that married three wonderful men. We have five grandchildren, four boys and one girl, ranging in age eight to eighteen. Isn’t it wonderful how God gives us another chance to love and receive love from a child and see the world once again through a child’s eye?
I retired from the federal government in 2005, and my husband retired from county government effective May 1, 2008. I worked five years for IRS and twenty-one years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Cotton Program.
Now that we have both retired, our plans are to plant a huge garden each year. I know that it will take up most of our summer but it is something we both enjoy.
I would like to extend my warmest regards to the class of 1963 and may God bless each one of you

2013: I am still pastoring Wisetown Baptist Church and have just started my 20th year there. I retired from the pharmacy after 32 years in June of 2000 because of an eye disease that has made me legally blind. We have a new granddaughter, born September 8, 2010, and that makes eight grandchildren. The oldest is 22 and will graduate from college this summer and the youngest is 2. I still enjoy reading talking books, playing the guitar and ministering to our church family. Brenda and I are richly blessed and are thankful to God for His blessings. 2013: Education: I attended the University of Tennessee with earning an Engineering degree (still in shape to run track for Tennessee). Subsequently, I earned a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and much later, an Executive MBA degree from Washington University – St. Louis.
Family: I had met my future wife, Charlotte Lebo, on a blind date arranged by Martha Dee Lynch while in college. We were married three days after graduation from UT. We have a daughter, Kathy, and son, Gregory, who both reside in St. Louis.
Career: My total career was in the Aerospace industry with my first job with McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis working on space programs. I subsequently changed to the U. S. Army Aviation Command, also in St. Louis, where I worked for the longest period of my career. Key achievements with the Army included the development of both the Black Hawk and Apache helicopters and starting the Army’s Flight Safety Parts Program. I led the Aviation Engineering Directorate for several years in capacities of the Deputy Director and the Director. During my career with the Army, I was awarded the Army’s highest Civilian award by the Secretary of the Army and also was selected as the state Military Engineer of the year by the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. After 30 years in St. Louis, I took a job as a Program Manager for a Royal Australian helicopter program with Kaman Aerospace in Connecticut. I had traveled extensively all over the US and several foreign countries with my Army career and continued to do that at Kaman including 25 trips to Australia. So I became very familiar with the people (G’day Mate!) and country as my accumulative time there was well over a year. I retired from Kaman in 2009 but have continued to do some periodic consulting work with them.
Outside Activities: I was involved in the Boy Scouts as a youth and have continued to be involved as an adult. I currently am a VP of the local Council here in CT. I have always been involved in various volunteer efforts but with more time in retirement, have done even more including being the Chair of a child care center run by our church, serve on the town’s Energy Committee and Tree Committee, serve as a land steward for the local Land Trust, and continue in hobbies of hiking, biking, genealogy, and photography. Our hiking group climbed Mt. Washington a couple of years ago which we felt was a great accomplishment—at our age! I have had several of my photos published, have done several videos for various groups and continue to take pictures for family, friends and groups.

2008: As the old saying goes "HOW TIME FLIES BY." Life has certainly been a journey. Bill and I have been married many years. He retired from the Memphis Fire Dept. in 2002 with over 33 years of service. I gave up my job with Kraft Foods in 1992 due to health problems. After Bill was tired of retirement he went to work for Northwest Airlines.
Our sons, Michael and Robert are both grown. Robert, his wife, Deana and two children, Riley and Dylan live close by in the Brunswick Farms area. As all grandparents could probably say, grandchildren are a gift from God. They bring a smiling face and piece of sunshine with them when we see them.
Riley is 5 years old and attends kindergarten at the ECS Ridgeway Campus. She also is learning to play the piano and will give her own performance for the family any time we will listen. She is our little princess, but also capable of catching frogs, worms, caterpillars and all God's little critters she can find. She loves gardening and just being in "nature" as she calls it.
Dylan is 2 now and our little man and loves all things that run on wheels or fly in the air. His Uncle Mike is his best buddy (after his Daddy), because Uncle Mike has large equipment for his construction business. Also one of Dylan's favorite things is Uncle Mike's Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Family is our focus these days which we praise the Lord for. We have lived in this area since 1986 and have been members at Brunswick Baptist Church since then. Our church family is also a large part of our world especially during some trying times when we've needed many prayers.
It has been really great to attend some of the gatherings in the past few months. I'm looking forward to the reunion to get to see many more.

2013: Impossible, can’t be 50 years, but it is!!!!! After graduating from KHS, I married very young to an Air Force Fighter Pilot and spent the next 16 years moving from base to base. This was during Viet Nam so I was alone most of the time. We lost many friends, either POW or MIA. During this time, we were blessed with two sons and I was able to attend The University of Maryland on Okinawa. Sadly, that marriage ended in divorce in 1981. Being a single mom was tough, but having wonderful children made it easy. For the past 25 years, I’ve been an Interior Decorator, owning a small firm here in Wichita. Being a decorator gave me the opportunity to meet the love of my life, best friend and husband, Charlie (he was a client). After much discussion with him, I sold that business 5 years ago. I’m semi-retired but keep busy with a few clients. We now have a combined family of three children. Keith, the oldest is an engineer at Spirit Aero Systems, Jay is an executive sales manager for an industrial rubber company, covering the Eastern U. S. and Canada. The youngest is Roxanne, a rep. for a communications company and with Sephora Cosmetology. We have a daughter-in-law, Vicki, a CPA that is beyond all expectations, eight awesome grandkids ages 3 to 21. Our oldest grandchild, Brea, will be graduating from Washburn University, in Topeka, KS May 11, 2013. She is engaged to the love of her life, Joey. A June 15, 2013 wedding is planned. Both Brea and Joe are studying for their CPA, and both already have jobs in Kansas City after graduating. Brea will be at Price Waterhouse and Joe at Westar. Brea’s school will continue as she has passed her pre law and will enter law school in the fall. I’m so excited to be helping to decorate wedding and reception – busy days, and maybe a great-grandbaby in the future! Sami, the second grandchild, is in college, on a basketball scholarship in Kansas City. The other 6 are in the Wichita area, so we play a lot. There is so much fun and laughter in our home, I feel so blessed. My husband, Charlie, better known as Crazy Charlie, is a commercial airline pilot for US Airways that just bought out American Airlines. There is a saying we live by daily and that is “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” We have two furry children, Ozzie and Honey, our little Dachshunds and live on a lake, where we have so much fun boating, swimming, fishing, making s’mores on the beach and just relaxing with family and friends. Charlie and I love to travel, especially to the Caribbean and Hawaii or anywhere there is a warm beach. Even though it was very cold, we did enjoy Scotland a few years ago. We love cruises and a Riverboat Cruise is planned this April in Europe. Charlie is very much into Harley Davidson motorcycles, owning 4 and would love for me to ride with him on weekends. Other interests I have, besides decorating and traveling include baking, gardening, kids activities, sports (especially K U basketball), and spending time with friends. I’m really looking forward to the reunion and seeing faces I haven’t seen in many years. God bless everyone….

2003: Since the last reunion, some things are changed. I now have two cute grandsons. Austin is 6 and Daniel is 8. Our children are doing very well. Billy and I still love to dance on weekends. We belong to Memphis Boys Club and River City Boppers. In 2002, I was inducted into the National Boppers Hall of Fame in Savannah, GA. Billy and I both have met so many wonderful people at these clubs and feel it is a great honor to be associated with these clubs. The year 2001 was a very hard year for me. Billy had colon cancer and my dad had a stroke and is now in a nursing home in Somerville, TN. Billy has done so well and I pray every day he will continue to stay cancer free. We will have our 40th anniversary this year and I love him more every day.

2013: I’m so sorry I’m not going to be able to attend the reunion. I was excited to come, but this year is soooo wonderfully filled with family. My baby and his wife (Tyler and Kristen) are having their first baby and is due May 11. Doctors are saying earlier. I don’t want to miss this. I’m also helping in planning my youngest daughter’s wedding, July 6, and my oldest granddaughter, Caitlin, is graduating high school in May. Plus, I’m now a widow as of 11 years this month, and all this seems overwhelming (but good) being alone. I would have liked to have connected with all again. I have been blessed with four children, three girls and a boy. The oldest being 44 in April and the youngest is 28. I have 4 grandchildren. Our oldest, Tara, has 3 children and has chosen to be a stay at home mom and home school her children; second, Tiffany, is a school teacher with one child; my third, Tonya, is an attorney and is being married the first time in July; and Tyler, the fourth, is a mechanical engineer and having his first baby in May. God blessed Reid and me with a wonderful family, and I’m so thankful – just wish he could’ve been around longer to enjoy them. I would like to hear about “y’alls” families as well. Take care and thanks for the work of getting this together.

2013: After graduating from KHS, I graduated from Memphis State in 1967. In 1968, I married David Grant and we moved to New Orleans where our first son, Kevin, was born. We have a daughter, Mindy, and another son, Josh (our mid-life surprise in 1987). Kevin and his wife, Jennifer, have our three grandsons in Oklahoma where he is a pastor.
I have worked as a kindergarten teacher’s aide, a social worker in North Memphis, and done volunteer work in various ministries. We have traveled some to Martinique, London, Quebec and a few other interesting places. We’ve had two serious house fires but by God’s grace, no one was injured. Phone: 662-337-4213
2013: I have been married almost 49 years, have two daughters and three grandchildren. I left Memphis in 1983 as we had bought a lake side place in 1981 and built a new home in 1983.
I left my job in May, 1983 to move so I could pursue my passion of fishing. I am out on the lake, weather permitting, every time I can. Moon Lake is 2500 acres and I just walk out the door, get in my boat and am gone as long as I like. My husband has encouraged me and makes sure I have all things connected to fishing from a boat, motor, trailer to the best jig pole sold. I go to some of the other local lakes when I choose to.
For some reason, I never got the “middle age spread.” I am 5’ 1 ½” and weigh 97 pounds which means I am mobile. I go to Memphis weekly to meet my sister for lunch and usually go to the casino (9 miles) on Mondays if fishing is slow. I am in the “winter” of my life and get the most out of every day I can. I never have a bad day. As long as I wake up alive, it will be a good day.
We built a very big library in 2005 and I am an avid reader. I also sew and just basically do whatever I want when I want. Life is good. I also attend church on Sunday at 11:00 AM as I have most likely have been on the lake since 5:00 AM. I am an early riser, usually between 3:00-4:00 AM. I use every minute of every day.
I don’t do much with a computer – mostly word games. Electronics are being put on the market so fast I can’t keep up with them and I have little interest in them.
I pass by Kingsbury sometimes and it looks a lot different than from 1957-1963. I would be afraid to send a child of mine there. I am trying to find a Kingsbury 63 annual. I had one but in 1984, our home was destroyed by a tornado (it was 6 months old) and most of our furnishings and personal items were sent to storage for 6 months while we rebuilt. I never got back some of my things and my senior annual was one of the things lost. Any help would be appreciated (the ones on line are awful).

2013: Shortly after graduation, I married my high school sweetheart, Billy Brigance. A few months later I entered into the work force at Sears-Crosstown. In July of 1968, our son, Michael, was born. I continued to work at Sears until the closing of that operation, ending my twenty-three year career. After that, I worked for Dobbs-House Corporate Office, went into a business of my own for a few years, spent five years at Wang’s International, Inc., a wholesale company, and five years in the Regional Office of Goldsmith’s.
In 1983, I married for a second time to William “Bob” Brown. Like myself, Bob has only one child, a daughter, Rhonda. Together we have a total of five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. My son, Mike, and family live just around the corner from us, so we have been very involved with his three children.
Over the years, Bob and I have enjoyed traveling quite a bit, especially cruising. We have enjoyed bowling and different styles of dancing. We’re very active in our church, Brunswick Baptist.
It’s hard to believe we’ve been out of school 50 years! Time has surely flown! God has truly blessed us with a loving family, good health and a good life, and I am thankful. Happy 50th Reunion everyone!!!

2008: Hello classmates, hard to believe it's been 45 years. My how time flies. I have been married to Richard Wilson (Messick grad. 1960) for 42 years, May 6th. We have lived in southeast Memphis in the Quince/White Station area for 34 years. We met at a wedding where he was best man and I poured punch at the reception. A year after we married, we had a son whom we named John, and almost six years later had a daughter we named Lori. We lost our son in 1979 in a bicycle/car accident. He was eleven at the time. Our daughter is married now and has three children. Cody is 13, Madison is 5, and Nick is 3. We enjoy them so much.
I went to work right out of high school at an insurance office. Since that time, I have worked at United Paint Co., Dobbs Food Service, Union Planters Bank (now Regions) and for the last fourteen years with the Shelby County Board of Ed. in the Food Nutrition Service department. I am currently at Bartlett High School and love it here.
I worked with children and preschoolers at Highland Heights Baptist Church for forty years. I decided last year it was time to let someone younger take over. I do miss it though. I enjoy working in my yard, keeping the grandkids, and scrap-booking. Once a month a group of ladies come over, and we have a wonderful person who comes up with the most fabulous ideas for beautiful layout pages for scrap-booking.
Other than our sad loss, I can say God has been truly good to us and blessed us in so many ways. I thank Him everyday for giving Richard to me. I wouldn't trade him for a moon pie and RC cola. That's about it.

2013: We’ve been blessed with a wonderful life. My “Mr. Wright” and I have two wonderful children, John and Dee and a great son and daughter-in-law. We have five grandchildren, four beautiful girls and one handsome boy. They are all doing great in school and keep us busy, all into different sports. We have a hard time keeping up with all the games. We all love to travel together and do as often as possible. Fortunately, Frank built a successful company that has given us the opportunity to help our son and our son-in-law to open their own companies. They are doing well. Frank sold his company and retired about 4 years ago. We both are enjoying the extra leisure time.

We traveled a lot while he was in the service and finally made our home in Cabot, Arkansas. Lonnie is still employed but I retired in April, 2008. I am so glad that I did because now I can enjoy my grandchildren. We have a granddaughter, Abbygail Lee Kersey, who will be ten next month and is in the fourth grade and a grandson, Peyton James Kersey, who started first grade this year. I can say there is never a dull moment when the grandchildren are around.
We still enjoy boating, camping (RV) and now we have added riding a motorcycle. No, don’t worry, I only ride and enjoy the scenery. We have taken several long trips. Our RV is a toy hauler so we are able to take the bike with us when we travel.

2013: I attended two years of college at Memphis State after high school and then I joined the Marine Corps, where I spent the next two years as a combat engineer and demolitions expert. While I was in the service, I rode bulls and bareback broncs in the Rodeo Cowboys Association (RCA).
I got out of the service, married for the first time and had a son and twin girls. During that time, I worked as an architectural draftsman for two years. I then went to work for Leader Federal Savings and Loan as a construction inspector, commercial loan officer and assistant vice president over REO’s (Foreclosed Properties) for 14 years. I was also a full-time horse shoer.
I got married for the second time and owned a remodeling business and sold real estate. I finally realized that I was living in the wrong part of the world and moved to Wyoming in 1991 where hunting is awesome and life is much slower. I again divorced and married my third AND FINAL wife in October, 1997. I retired from Wal-Mart after 15 years as an Automotive Department Manager.
I am now retired and working 24/7 – 365. I don’t know how I ever had time to work a paying job. In my spare time, I ride one of my 7 horses and mules; hunt elk, antelope and deer; trap coyotes and bobcats in the winter; fish when my wife is not looking; head to the hills and camp at every opportunity and I’m a great husband (not necessarily in that order).
Now I live in the Rocky Mountains in Cody, WY and live in a place that most people only dream of and I get to see it every day. Thank You, LORD!!!.

2003: Nine years ago we bought a small farm in Hopkins County (Kentucky). Life changed. I had been working in the school system, but that ended. I became a poultry farmer. For 7 ½ years, my husband and I have operated Pontiac Pullets. We raise pullets for Tyson Foods (approximately 25,000 birds per flock). I take care of the day-to-day work on the farm. My husband, George, continues to work full time for the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service as the county agent for agriculture and natural resources. When we have an opportunity to get away, we visit our daughter, Maneesa. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in interior design and presently works in the Orlando area. Whenever possible, we travel to Florida. George and I are involved in various community activities. Right now our plans are to continue to be active members in our community and to live and work on our farm in western Kentucky.
2008: Not much has changed in the last 5 years. My husband and I still own a chicken farm in Hopkins County, Kentucky raising pullets for Tyson Foods. We like western Kentucky and continue to be active in community activities. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the reunion - we had already made plans to visit our daughter in Florida. Hope to see everyone at the 50th.

50th Kingsbury High School Reunion Booklet.
“Nothing is easier than to fill a day, a life, with little things that have to be done and miss the important things. School is to help you not to fill your lives with unimportant things but to be sensitive, alert—to understand what are the important things and to be part of them.”—John Crothers, 1960
The above statement was written by John Crothers for the 1960 Kingsbury annual, and the statement sums up his career as principal of Kingsbury High School. He was the only principal most of us knew through junior and senior high; so for six years, he was a big part of our lives. He was always there when we needed guidance; he was there to show us the way when we wandered off track, and he was the first to praise when we were successful. He was respected by faculty and students alike and tried to instill in us the importance of achieving our full potential. Failure was not an option with John Crothers and his students are his legacy.
John Crothers passed away in 2003, and although he had not been active in the school system in many years, he is still remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
Thanks to all of you who provided information for this booklet. Please help the next reunion committee by keeping in touch with one of the following class members. Please inform them of any address changes, new phone numbers, email addresses and any other important information that could be shared with our classmates.

I am still managing the pharmacy since Tibby retired in 2000. I stay busy with the pharmacy, being a pastor’s wife and going to the grandchildren’s activities. God continues to bless us and we are thankful for His blessings. I enjoyed getting together with the girls when we were in Memphis last fall and look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.

2008: A lot has happened in these 45 years. Odis and I were 1 month short of our 43rd anniversary when he passed away. Life has been different without him, but because of Jesus I am not alone. We have a son, Jamie, 41 and a daughter, Judi Bramlett 42. We have 2 grandchildren, Micah 15 and Chelsea 20. Micah is a freshman at First Assembly Christian School in Cordova and plays football. Chelsea is a sophomore at Mississippi State University on a scholarship for softball and academics. Her freshman year she was 1st team

I have been the Financial Associate at Faith Baptist Church for 12 years. Last year I went on my first mission trip to China and Tibet. We take so much for granted here.

2013: Floyd and I enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, watching our pine trees grow. We volunteer in Oxford and Harmontown. Our daughter, Meredith, and husband, Scott, live in Ponte Vedra, Florida. We visit as often as possible. Reid is in kindergarten; Liam, pre-k. Dale’s engaged to Ashley, a beauty from Collierville. His job as a traffic cop in Southaven is demanding, but not too bad on good-weather days when he patrols on a Harley.

My husband is the pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Elkin, NC.

Our children are Lisa Fugate Matthews, married to Daniel. They have two children: Meghan, 22 and Garrett, 16 and live in Mocksville, NC. Our son, Brad, lives in Boston. He teaches music at Brown University and Boston University, all in Massachusetts. Our younger daughter, Mandy, is married to Donald Taylor whom she met in Florida when we lived there. He is the manager for Sam’s Club in Concord, California (close to San Francisco). They live in Brentwood and have four children: Madison, 9; Drew, 7; Emily, 2 1/2; and Katy, 2 months.

2013: Received degree in mechanical engineering in 1968 and worked as an engineer for Reynolds Aluminum Company in Muscle Shoals area until I won my 1st lottery, the draft. Joined the Air Force in December, 1969 and served as a pilot until May, 1978. Fortunately did not have to serve in Viet Nam, though I was a flight instructor who trained many pilots that did have to serve there. Found my calling in aviation and pursued a career flying commercially. Met, “She who must be obeyed” (my wife, Jo Anne) and married her in summer, 1979. Got hired by FedEx in January, 1980 and was blessed to have flown all over (the USA and around the world) with them until I retired in December of 2004. I credit my precious and dedicated wife, Jo Anne, for helping and standing by me and giving us a fine son, Aaron. Aaron, our only child, married his high school sweetheart and they are giving Jo Anne and me the finest gift in life, our first grandchild! I am truly grateful for my school and my caring and well educated classmates. Thanks.

2013: I retired in 2008 from an interesting and challenging 40-year career with AT&T, formerly BellSouth. Ken and I have been married 46 years, have two sons and one sweet, lovely thirteen year old granddaughter. We moved to Charlotte, NC in the early 70’s. We love both the coast and the mountains. We built our retirement home in 2005 near Asheville, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We spend about half our time there enjoying the scenery, hiking and kayaking. Eventually, we will live there full time. Since retirement, we’ve been traveling and we will be on a three week trip to Spain with friends during the time of the reunion. Sorry we will miss all the fun! My sisters still live in the Memphis area near Oakland, TN, so we visit frequently.

2013: Since our 45th reunion, Cathey and I have enjoyed the retired life at our country house in Hickory Withe. We’ve enjoyed traveling the country with our modest (27’) travel trailer, visiting the Midwest, New England, Florida, etc. One of our favorite “dry camping” venues is the annual King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR in October.

2013: I am still assistant program director at Meals on Wheels, but I am cutting back on my hours so Keith and I can travel. I volunteer as treasurer of our local Tallapoosa Aid to People which provides emergency assistance to needy persons in our community, help at our church and in my neighborhood and serve as president of my sorority chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Keith retired from Russell Corporation in 2007 and is enjoying renovating our house and volunteer work.
Our son, Alan, is still in the Air Force Reserves at Warner Robins, GA and flies for Delta Airlines out of Atlanta. He and Claire were married in 2009 and have a son, Bennett, born December 3, 2012. Bennett is certainly “grand.”

2008: Well, I have been retired for around 5 years from Federal Express after 25 years. What a wonderful opportunity I had. Traveled many places and enjoyed every second of it. I now play golf, bowl, play bridge, garden and travel a lot. It seems I am never at home. I am blessed by a wonderful husband of nearly 35 years and two terrific children. I currently have no grandchildren but hopefully that will come sometime soon. Hope all of you have a great time at the reunion. I am unsure as to whether we will be able to attend. Life is good.

2008: After high school, I went to Memphis State for a year and then joined the Air Force in the summer of 65. I was sent to Lackland AFB in Texas where I was trained as a language specialist. By the luck of the draw I was assigned to learn Polish. After all the tech schools I was sent to Rhein Main AB in Frankfurt, Germany for a 2 and a half year term.
I came home and returned to Memphis State and studied accounting. Never finished school, but landed a job in accounting with National Safety Associates. Worked for NSA 20 years until 1993.
Now I own and operate two businesses. I'm a professional mobile disc jockey and I design and build websites for individuals and companies.

2013: After high school, I went to work for a trucking company doing office work. I worked for two different companies from 1963 to 1968 and was promoted to various positions. In 1968, I was drafted into the Army and after basic training, I was stationed at Ft. Knox, KY and Pleiku Viet Nam. After my service, I returned to my previous job at the trucking company and in 1972, married my wife of now 40 years, Shirley Hyde, who was an Overton graduate. We have three daughters, ages as of this date 38 and twins, 33. We now have three granddaughters and our fourth will arrive around April 15th of this year. After the years of working for trucking companies which included management positions, I opened my own business in 1984. My firm is now 30 years old and I officially retired January 1, 2013. My wife and I enjoy traveling and look forward to retirement spending time with our children, grandchildren and friends. We enjoy camping and boating and will do as much as possible as the years progress.

It is true sorrow for those we have lost. Thanks for listening! My email address is: [email protected] or [email protected]

2003: The journey I have traveled is a path some would not take, but through the trials and tests, I have grown to love the Lord more deeply. My sweet, precious husband (a gift from the Lord) was called home two years ago and within less than five months, I lost my dad. My family, friends and church home have been a beacon for me. Kurt (my husband) and I would have been married 36 years, but I still have my two daughters and three grandchildren, Brandon, 12; Hayden, 9; and Camden, 3. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

2003: I am most blessed with a wonderful daughter with two granddaughters and a wonderful son with two grandsons. My daughter lives in Memphis and my son is Sr. Pastor of a church on the East Coast. I was assistant to branch manager of a dental company, but due to health problems, have been on disability for over a year now. I have been divorced for 3 years after a 34-year marriage. My hobby is, what else but my grandchildren! I do enjoy going to church, cooking and my computer is what I call my therapy—ha! The Lord has really blessed my family and me. Any of you that would like to email me, I would love to hear from you.

Most of my time now is invested in Bible study and church activities.

Coahoma, MS 38617-9631

We have now been back in Smyrna for almost 13 years. I have transitioned from the telecommunication industry (which has gone through many major changes) to Controller and Office Manager for a family owned business.

Class of ’63
50th Kingsbury High School Reunion Booklet.
